Chapter 3
There has been an ongoing heated discussion between Alaric and his mother. It has been two hours since I was asked to wait outside the room. I am about to die of hunger, but I haven’t heard anything yet. One thing’s for sure—my initial assumption is correct: the conference room is soundproof. Even my wolf senses couldn’t penetrate these thick walls!
Anyway, this time, I’m on Alaric’s side. Just imagining myself calling him teacher or master makes me want to vomit. Though I’m an omega, I’ve never directly served anybody. I’ve been tasked with cleaning, cooking, and doing menial work, sure. But never have I been made to do the direct biddings of the Alpha or Luna.
If Alaric goes along with this ridiculous idea, I can’t even begin to imagine what my life will become. Restrictive. Boring. Completely devoid of the little freedom I’ve clawed out for myself.
I heard he studied ancient texts in the heavenly realm. Am I supposed to do the same? Let me be clear: if I’m good at anything, it’s definitely not reading. Honestly, how I wish Alpha Angus were here right now! Though he’s the source of all the scars on my back, at least he’d never ask me to study. I dodged today’s punishment thanks to Luna Stella’s intervention and Alpha Angus’s absence. But let’s not kid ourselves—if he were here, twenty lashes would’ve been the least of my worries.
As for why Alpha Angus has been gone so long, rumor has it he’s been in the demon realm receiving orders from the royal palace. It’s been two months. He must be on his way back by now.
Suddenly, the door to the conference room opened.
“Come to my office tomorrow morning at 7 a.m.,” Alaric said without so much as glancing at me.
I glanced around, hoping he was talking to someone else. Maybe the air? Or the moon?
“Me?” I asked, my voice laced with dread.
“Who else?” he replied, now looking directly at me. “Don’t be late.” Then he walked off without another word.
I sighed. This must be my karma. My stomach growled in protest, reminding me that I was already thirty minutes late for dinner.
“Sorry, tummy. Mummy will feed you soon,” I mumbled to myself, heading toward the kitchen to finally eat. But just as I was about to indulge in some much-needed sustenance, a warrior’s voice rang out.
“Everyone! Alpha Angus has arrived. He wants us to gather at the podium.”
So much for dinner.
Grumbling under my breath, I joined the rest of the pack at the podium. Alpha Angus stood at the center of the platform, looking more agitated than usual.
“Everyone, I have important news from the seer of the Royal Palace of Wolves,” he began. “It’s about the prophecy foretold by the three fates more than two decades ago.”
The crowd fell silent, their interest piqued—or at least feigned. Personally, I’d bet they were just eager to get this over with so they could eat and sleep. Just like me.
“The three fates predicted that a destined demon was born on the first blood moon twenty-one years ago,” he continued. “This destined demon is fated to marry the descendant of the queen of the wolves. Their union will unite the three realms and ensure peace for all creatures. They are destined to rule over all realms.”
Alpha Angus scanned the crowd, his sharp eyes searching for something—or someone.
“Alaric, come here,” he commanded.
Though visibly confused, Alaric stepped onto the platform beside him.
“I am proud to say that the destined demon has been found,” Alpha Angus announced. “Twenty-one years ago, Alaric, my son, you were born on the day of the first blood moon.”

Chapter 6 My mind was in turmoil. I don’t tolerate liars. Chaos’s words echoed in my head, a relentless reminder of the web of lies I’d spun since arriving at the palace. I had been deceiving him, hiding my true identity and my mission. What would he think if he found out? Would he ever forgive me? Could I even face him again? The guilt weighed heavily on me, a constant ache in my chest. I sighed deeply, trying to push the thoughts away, but they clung to me like shadows. A knock on the door pulled me from my thoughts. I opened it to find Chaos standing there, his expression filled with concern. Without waiting for an invitation, he walked in and sat on my bed. I followed, sitting beside him. “What’s wrong?” he asked, his voice soft. “What’s wrong?” I echoed, stalling for time. “You know what I’m talking about,” he said, his eyes searching mine. “You’ve been acting strangely since yesterday, after your talk with Marcela.” Should I tell him? The question gnawed at me. If I did, I’d be b...
Chapter 5 I was still bothered by the painting I’d seen the day before, but I pushed the thought aside. I had a more urgent situation to deal with: Amari had sent me a message asking for an update. I didn’t know how Amari had managed it, but I found the message under my plate of hotdogs during dinner. With Chaos sitting right across from me, I nearly had a heart attack when I noticed the paper barely hidden beneath the plate. Thankfully, I was wearing a dress with long sleeves, so I was able to discreetly slip the paper under my right sleeve. I excused myself immediately after dinner, claiming I was exhausted. Chaos seemed disappointed but didn’t protest. He simply escorted me to my room and kissed me goodnight. That was close. Now, alone in my room, I stared at the message. I had nothing to report—no progress, no leads. Worse, I wasn’t sure I even wanted to reveal anything about Chaos. It felt like no matter what I did, I’d be betraying someone. The next morning, I decided to have bre...
